Brooklyn in Space

November 10, 2022 in Photography

This photoshoot from start to finish was 23 minutes!

My friend Amelia told me about this spot on the side of the highway she always admired when driving back home to Michigan from Columbus. A few years ago we made a fun little photo trip to these crazy looking hills on the side of the highway. Last time we shot for around 10 mins and then a security guy came and said it was a federal mine and we had to leave lmfaoooo. We stayed and finished our shoot, duh, but the threat was there!!!

So, years later when Brooklyn requests to shoot at that same location in exchange for a cute little stick and poke psyduck, I cannot refuse.

We drove a little over an hour from columbus, pulled off on the side of the highway & jumped a fence just after the sun decided to take a nap. At this point blue hour was in full effect. We shot so fast trying to squeeze all we could out of the natural light. I didn’t want it to get too dark or else the background would be solid black. I was also moderately nervous about getting arrested, so I don’t think I processed what was actually happening. We shot enough to feel good about the trip. We hopped back over the fence, took a few more pics and it started pouring rain.

The rest is history!

Thanks for the tattoo & adventure, Brooklyn :)
